How do I become a UMASDA member & Train Here?
In House Students – Train in Person
You’ve found one of the select few organizations in Monterey County CA that meets ALL of these:
- 501C3 Non Profit Corporation – All Directors and Instructors serve to help others, on a volunteer basis. Any amount you wish to contribute above your base tuition is tax deductible as a donation to a Non-Profit. Consult your tax advisor for more details.
- Adults Only – You will train with adults (18+ with rare exceptions) who are focused on learning – working professionals from all walks of life. We have Emergency Services personnel, active and retired Law Enforcement, medical professionals, real estate agents, child care specialists, each with a wealth of personal experience that aids each other in learning.
- Self Defense Focused material. While we train in a martial arts context, the focus is on self defense for the streets, with nothing we teach coming from an exclusively competition orientation. We do participate in some competition aspects which are self defense focused.
- Every instructor has been through a current background check either as a course of their professional employment, license or certifications held (currently all instructors fall in this category) or through our organization.
We offer a free trial with a liability waiver on file. The duration of your free trial may last from one week to one month depending on our mutual agreement and your availability to attend classes.
If you’re interested – please fill out the form below to schedule your interview. We are always accepting new enrollments, but we have found that it works out better for all involved if we sit down and discuss expectations and mutual requirements in training so we ensure we are all aligned.
If accepted to train – you may sign up for your monthly tuition by clicking here and selecting a membership option.
Distance Learning Program – Self Paced with Video & In Person Support
Our Distance Learning Program enables you to train in a self paced format. You will need a partner to practice with as self defense inherently requires a body to work with to learn the material.
If you’re interested in signing up for the Distance Learning Program AND you’re 18 years old or older – you’ll need to fill out the below form and then upon acceptance, choose one of the two Distance Learning Program subscriptions by clicking here.
