FAQ

FAQ: Training & Advancement

Our advancement system is built on earned achievement, not time served. Every belt and rank must be thoroughly earned through dedicated study, practice, and demonstrated competence. While we offer multiple paths to black belt and beyond through our diverse programs, each maintains rigorous standards ensuring graduates possess both technical proficiency and practical capability.

How long does it take to earn a black belt?

Time to black belt varies by program:

  • Sword Program (Battojutsu): 1.5-2 years (3 levels)
  • IKCA Kenpo: 3-4 years (7 levels)
  • American Martial Science™: 4-5 years
  • Peaceful Journey Martial Studies™: 4-5 years
  • Seibukan Jujutsu: 2-3 years (6 levels)

Progress depends on individual dedication and study outside of class.
